In a small nut, a womon is struggling with pain on a wooden bed and a midwife is busy helping her give birth to the baby and preparing for the baby's coming, meanwhile a handsome man stands at the corner and waits for the birth of the kid anxiously, looking at the woman lying on the bed worriedly. Although they have no word, they all hope that the baby will be a boy, then the problem of the kingdom's future heir will be solved naturally. The baby comes into the world when the rare blood moon suddenly appears in the sky and overshadows all the light. When the midwife declare the gender of the baby, the man and woman are all a little disappointed. The mother even wouldn't like to look at the baby again. The man tries to conceal his disappointment and consolate the woman who just gave birth with all of energy and is still weak. It seems that they predict something bad will be happen in future with the birth of the baby based on the weird celestial phenomena. In a serious atmosphere, The man and the woman gives the baby a name Layana. Then the man took this girl to the palace.

There is a brutal massacre in the other place at the same time. The king decides to sacrifice the second strongest clan and let soldiers to kill all of members of this clan. Parents always know the upcoming danger and try their best to protect their son. A little boy was told by his father to hide himself in a remote carve which is difficult to find. The darker it gets, the more uneasy the little boy became. He can't help wanting to know whether his families are safe and why his father doesn't allow him to ruturn until it's getting dark. Eventually, he run to his house as soon as possible. In the city where he  has lived in and has been bustling with activity, countless corpses are decarded like rubbish on streets full of blood. He sees many playmates who has paly with him lately lying in blood. At that moment, he feels that the world and things fall apart. Although he already predicts what has happened to his clan, he still thinks that maybe my families are lucky enough…… He runs to the house desperately while he witnesses a scene which bacome a nightmare of his whole life. His brother is stabbed by those cruel soldiers and the blood sprays out crazily. Then he is also found by those soilders. He didn't obey his father's order and expose his magic power when those soldier is about to kill him.

Several years after, the little girl who is born with a curse grows into the most beautiful princess and often attracts eyes of others. While she is still not be thought highly by his father. The king often try no avoid seeing this daughter because she looks like her mother so much, which often reminds him of the womon whom he truely loves. Meanwhile, the little boy who has a miserable experience also grows into a handsome man, while he doesn't care about his appearance. In past years, he considered how to revenge for those innocent members of his clan every day. Then he finally has  an opportunity to come into the palace. It's when he is trying to plan a elaborate scheme to revenge that he encounter beautiful Layana and can't forget her anymore. Then how will their fates intersect?

Final thoughts about His Caged Princess

This novel is one of the best that I have read. The beginning of this story describes weird astronominal phenomena when Layana was born, which is intriguing. Besides that, identities of his moother is always a secret. In addition, the cruel situation where the Declan's family is slaughtered is showed, which let readers can't help wanting to exxploring the reason further. The auther is very adept at catching readers'eyes through puzzles that inspire them to explore the truth. The desgin of plots in this novel is unique and beyond readers' imagination. Overall, it's must a novel to bring much fun for you. If you don't read it, you will regret missing such a wonderful novel.

Why are children forced to be soldiers?

Selena Garcia experienced a dark and miserable childhood. As an eight-year-old girl, she is very mature for her age. Born in a single-parent family but not resigned towards relatives' abuse, she is often deemed as an impolite and rude girl. What's worse, she is often beaten and abused by one of her uncles who is addicted to drugs and drinks. Even her poor mother and little sister can't avoid such maltreatment. However, there is no one to blame her uncle and stop his action but to regard everything misfortunate happen to them as a natural thing. While growing up in such a family, Selena still hold her values firmly. She always believes that a person should be respected not because of his or her age but noble qualities and great deeds. All of persons like her uncles should be punished due to his evil behaviours. Althogh she is such a little girl, she is brave enough to stand out to protect those she really cares about and love. It's difficult to justify whether the bravery beyond age is a blessing.

One day, the bastard, Selena's evil uncle, took some rascals who is idle, drunk and complain everything to her house. Hearing of the scream and cry from her little sister, Selena ran out from her room. Seeing that her little sister's clothes were torn to pieces and  those rascals is about to rape her little sister with evil laughters. She fetched a knife hidden under her pillow by herself before and stabbed those rascals from their back unconsciously. Seeing red blood on the ground, she felt her mind go blank and what happend just now was like a dream……

Since that, she became wordless at school. She could gaze at the sky for a long time and imagined where clouds would go. She dare not to recall the thing happened that day, yet it's difficult to forget it totally and the scene where blood on ground is like a river while her sister were quivering in the blood appears over and over again in her mind. She lives in fear every day and she was not clear the reason why she is scared, and what she is scared of, the scene or herself?

Selena's life at school is also not easy. Because of her silence , she became the object that most students bully and humuliate. She always endured and didn't response. At that time, the news that president whom was elected recently recruits children to be future soldiers was spread around the country. Selena was called into the director's office and was invited to join the program mentioned in the news. She was hesitant initially but was told that she would be sent into prison because she had killed some people if she didn't join the army. Finally, she was took a secret place to be trained and became a stong girl……

Selena's dark childhood in her big family is caused by her relatives' wrong ideas and tolerance for her evil uncle. Due to losing her father, Selena, her sister and her mother live a tough life in this family. Her grandmother and her aunts are sympathetic about their expeience and often persuaded  her uncles, while voice of women in her family is always neglected. Therefore, there is no one could save them from family's suffering. However, Selena who witnessed family violence and ingorance towards children and females since childhood don't accept those absurd ideas hold by her relatives, neither she endure voilence just like a docile lamp, she chose response to violence through violence eventually, killing rascals who are to rape her sister. It's hard to justify such a tragedy from an objective perspective.

What impress me the most is that the scene where Selena is  being bullyed by her classmates. Several students dumped dishes on her head while students around them burst out laughters, and she couldn't help asking them why she was always their objection of bullying, those students said, because you never response to our humiliation. I think of evilness of human nature that people often tend to despise and bully the weak or those who looks like weak but fear and respect those strong. If you was bullyed, you must learn to protest and attack them back to protect yourself. It's should be believed that there must be the kind in this world but it's also must admitted that the evil also exist in the meantime. No matter whether you think there is the evil i the world, you must try to be strong enough to protect youself and people you really love. You don't bully the weak while you must not be bullied.

Werewolf elements in this novels is mysterious and attractive with support of fantastic setting of stories. Experience of Yasmine's mother and that of her grandmother's mother narrated by her grandmother added fantastic colors further and create a tense atmosphere for the development of plots. The Lycan's unexpected warrior Luna is a great novel worth reading both in terms of characters' setting and plots.
